Slip and fall injuries (also known as trip and fall injuries) at hotels and motels may happen because of torn or frayed carpeting. Guests also may be injured due to inadequate or improper lighting outside of tourism or hotel venues. They may fail to notice a poorly maintained walkway, man-made ice hazard, or other potential cause of injury.
In some premises liability cases, a hotel guest may be injured in an assault due to negligent security. For example, a poorly lighted parking lot may attract criminal behavior. The owner of the hotel may be liable for not providing adequate lighting, installing video cameras, or hiring security personnel to protect guests.
